Ripley Village Nursery

At Ripley Village Nursery, our mission is to nurture confident, independent children who feel empowered to make their own choices. We are committed to supporting every child in achieving a smooth transition to Reception in Primary School, ensuring they feel happy, secure, and excited to continue their journey of learning and growth.

The Pre-school is based in a purpose-built setting with its own dedicated outdoor area. Children have access to both the indoor and outdoor environments throughout the day as part of our free-flow routine, enabling them to choose where they would like to explore and learn.

Our provision is thoughtfully enhanced across all areas to support children’s characteristics of effective learning and individual interests. We encourage independence and creativity by offering open-ended resources, giving children the freedom and opportunity to extend and develop their play.

About Us

We foster a love of learning through our Focus Story–based planning approach, which creates a rich language environment that nurtures children’s communication and language development.

Phonics is a key part of our Pre-school curriculum. We provide short, engaging sessions that support children’s understanding of Phase 1 phonics, helping them tune into sounds and develop the strong foundations needed for early reading success.

Our aim is to strengthen social skills, inspire creativity and imagination, and develop fine and gross motor skills and coordination. We encourage children to learn new skills, build confidence and self-esteem, and enjoy discovering new experiences. We value strong partnerships with parents and warmly welcome them to join us at the many events and celebrations we hold throughout the year.

Learning through play

The foundations of learning at Ripley Village Nursery

In Pre-school we:

  • Recognise that the Early Years are a vital stage in children’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development.
  • Work closely with parents to understand each child’s learning style, interests, and preferences, building on their existing knowledge and meeting the needs of three- and four-year-olds when planning our curriculum.
  • Promote learning through play by providing a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Value every child’s unique strengths and needs, understanding that each child learns and develops in their own way.
  • Build strong foundations in early literacy and mathematics through purposeful adult support, meaningful play, and nurturing curiosity.
  • Support children in developing confidence and self-esteem, preparing them for a smooth and positive transition to school.
